No man has a monopoly on virtue or truth. We are all just humans trying to make our way in the world. I view science as another form of religion. And anyone's religion is their's and only their own. It is not up to us to dispute someones beliefs, or put them down for it, for we do not know where another is on their path. And we all are on our own paths. Your life is a journey. The future will prove us all wrong and as backwards as we now see the past as being ignorant and less sophisticated than us. We too will be viewed the same way by those who will call us "ancestors". We are now living in their dark ages. I believe in the real metaphysical qualities of life. Not the "new agey wooshy-wooshy" metaphysics, but the total aspect of mental reality. Life happens only in your mind and nowhere else. Things like, prove you were once 7 years old, and prove the existence of yellow, or the flavor of ice cream. Are all facts which do not exist in the physical world. What is a color? What is a flavor? What is a year? Now obviously, you will use the explanations of a color as being part of the light spectrum. A flavor is a taste sensation. And a year is a trip around the Sun. Well, put those things in a box and send them to me. As I write these words, I exist in another time and place than you as you sit and read them. You cannot prove that I exist through these black symbols on your screen. Yet you take it on "faith" and a your personal knowledge of how you think your world exists, that I do exist, because you can read these words and you use reason that a man somewhere in another time and place wrote them. But the truth is; the me you think of as you read right now, is only locked in these word symbols. As your eyes scan these black marks on your screen you put together in your mind the thoughts which I placed in them. This is metaphysics. You cannot scientifically prove that this symbol here in parenthesis (moose) means anything. We can come to a consensus that it means an animal with broad antlers and hooves, but that symbol is not a real moose. And because science and atheism are confined to the metaphysical world of words and symbols they too, like any other religion are merely a belief, or if it sounds better; science is an art, but as most artists will attest - art is a religion. Science, as it always has in the past will continue to change what it considers to be facts and truth. Myths and symbols are all we ever really know besides that which we know only unto ourselves. Your eyes read these words which lay dead and dormant until your eyes scan them and your mind brings them back to life, and *poof* here I am in your mind talking to you. Yet also I understand there are a lot of people who know nothing of theology or mythology and use irrational arguments to argue with others about their personal beliefs which are usually based in some dogmatic doctrine which they have never thought about deeply unto themselves. Or they argue semantics and the use of language. And think in only Circular thoughts and arguments, which in many cases leads to irrationalism and paranoia. If you study and read enough (including the things that oppose your personal opinions) youll find every group thinks there's another group conspiring against them. Been there-Done that. At the risk of sounding arrogant (Maybe it's too late for that...) I could say it would be easier for me to list the things I haven't done, than it would be for me to list the things I have done. As I have forgotten more than some will ever learn. I've lived with the wealthy and hung out at their pools and mansions, and I also have lived in poverty in a tent in the desert. When it comes down to it what is important to everyone is; love, comfort, food, and 'getting by' in life. As T.S. Eliot said, Words slip, slide, crack, and/Break under the strain of signification (from Four Quartets). We are the intelligent life in outer space, we are the spacemen. The Earth is in outer space. We are the time travelers as it used to be two minutes ago and before that it was 1975. We can travel back in time, but since we cannot change anything in the past without destroying ourselves in this current future. We can only do it with our minds in memories or through our collective memory, which is stored in data in books, chips and symbols. Speech, Hearing, Listening, Talking, Writing, Reading, etc. is mind reading. Everything humans want to do they will do, everything being done now can be done by you. Once you can see your own frailty, follies, and vanity clearly can you then see clearly. What do you want to do, that you cannot do? What do you want to believe, that you cannot believe now?
